Acoustic Alchemy before reorganization in 2000 had no permanent line-up, the only constant part of the band, its core was always just the duo of Nick Webb (guitar with metal strings) and Greg Carmichael (guitar with nylon strings). They were the writers and arrangers of all the band’s compositions. The rest of the musicians – electric guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists, percussionists – were actually session musicians and were involved only for recording albums. However, the most frequent collaborators were John Parsons (electric guitar, also sometimes played acoustic guitar); drummers Bert Smaak (5 classic albums), Dan Tomlinson and John Sheppard (both on 2 albums); keyboardists Rainer Bruninghaus (5 classic albums) and Terry Disley (4 albums). The bassists changed frequently, the last two albums before 1998 were recorded with the band by Dennis Murphy. The permanent percussionist from the first album was Mario Argandona.

After Nick Webb’s death, his place in the duo was taken by Miles Girdeldale, who also played electric guitar on the albums starting with The Beautiful Game (2000). In addition, after the resumption of the band’s activity, it found a more or less permanent line-up of musicians: Greg Carmichael (guitar with nylon strings), Miles Girdeldale (guitar with metal strings and electric guitar), Anthony White (keyboards) and Frank Felix (bass). This lineup recorded 5 albums (2000-2005).

The drummer’s position until 2003 was still held by session musicians, who changed from album to album, but since the Radio Contact album Greg Grainger has been behind the drum kit (however, from time to time Bert Smaak is also brought in as a session musician).

After the departure of Frank Felix, who started his solo career in 2007, Julian Crampton took his place on bass. In 2014 he was replaced by Greg Grainger’s brother Gary. Acoustic Alchemy has existed in this lineup to this day.
